On May 13, 2025, the European Alliance 4EU+ announced the appointment of its new Secretary General, Elena DEL GIORGIO. With a strong background in European policy, she brings to the position over 15 years of experience in international relations, institutional partnerships and scientific cooperation

In her new role, Elena DEL GIORGIO will head the 4EU+ secretariat in Brussels. She will contribute to strengthening cooperation between the eight member universities, developing relations with European institutions and associated partners, and implementing the Alliance's 2025-2035 strategy, which aims to build an integrated European university focused on research and innovation.

Prior to this appointment, she held a number of positions at the University of Milan and 4EU+, where she was instrumental in drawing up the Alliance's new strategy and overseeing the establishment of its secretariat in Brussels. With a doctorate from the European University Institute in Florence, she has extensive experience in European higher education.

Paris-Panthéon-Assas University becomes the 8th higher education institution to join the 4EU+ alliance in 2023, with the aim of creating a European university for research and innovation. It joins Charles University in Prague (Czech Republic), Heidelberg University (Germany), Geneva University (Switzerland), Warsaw University (Poland), Milan University (Italy), Copenhagen University (Denmark) and Sorbonne University.
