Born in 2001 following a reorganisation of the Documentation Centre of Ancient Laws (CDDA), the Study Centre of Legal History (CEHJ) and the Centre for the History of Law and Institutions (CHDI), the Institute of the History of Law (IHD) is a research team (MRU 7184) under the direct supervision of Panthéon-Assas University, the Centre national de la Recherche scientifique (CNRS) and the Archives nationales.
