On Wednesday 13 April 2022, Stéphane BRACONNIER was elected president of the new public experimental establishment (EPE) Paris-Panthéon-Assas University, created on 1 January 2022. A pioneer of this approach, Paris-Panthéon-Assas University is the first university in France to integrate four private schools, recognized as working in the public interest (EESPIG: Établissement d’Enseignement Supérieur Privé d’Intérêt Général or Private higher education institutions with a public interest). 

The ballot results were as follows:

  • Number of voters: 38
  • 32 votes for Stéphane BRACONNIER
  • 5 abstentions
  • 1 void

As part of his continued mandate, begun in December 2020 as president of the Paris 2 Université, then as provisional president of the EPE "Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas", President BRACONNIER with his far-reaching ambition of accompanying and supporting the transformations of the contemporary world, wishes to project the university as a dynamic actor of the academic world and as a leading institution of higher education and research.

Stéphane BRACONNIER has been a Professor in Public Law since 1998, after submitting his PhD Law thesis in 1995. Professor in Public Law at Paris-Panthéon-Assas University since 2007, he has been president of the university since 30 November 2020. He is also the co-director of the Master’s Degree in Public Economic Law (DPE). 

Stéphane BRACONNIER is a specialist in Public Economic Law, particularly in the domain of Public Procurement Law (public tenders, public-private partnerships, concessions, etc.) His work also covers Public Property Law, Public Company Law and Local Authority Law. Several of his books and articles deal with these issues (Droit des marchés publics - ed. Le Moniteur; Droit des services publics - ed. PUF; Droit public de l'économie - ed. PUF).

As a former president of the Ethics Committee of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF), he was a member of the Sanctions Committee of the French anti-doping agency and is a judge at the Supreme Court in the Principality of Monaco.
