The Analysis and Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Media plays the role of a welcoming team (EA 2293) for IFP. Affiliated to Panthéon-Assas University since 1969, IFP houses the département des sciences de l'Information et de la Communication - Department of Information and Communication Sciences.
As part of the first university centre dedicated to studying the French press, it disposes of one of the oldest media documentation centres, holding partially digitalised documentation resources composed of more than 11,000 works, 3,000 dissertations and theses and 900 documentary files.
Interdisciplinary research
Until 1961, the history of the written press was one of the main research topics of the Institute, with the publication of extensive collective works. Subsequently, the sociological, economic and legal dimensions were developed in parallel. In recent years, the IFP team has diversified its research areas by strengthening its sociology of communication and international communication centres, with an emphasis on semiology and semiotics.
CARISM research projects
Current research carried out by CARISM is focused on 3 major research axes.
